Supporting the Bi-national Kemp’s Ridley and Other Endangered Sea Turtle Recovery Projects Saturday, June 11, 2016 at the Gladys Porter Zoo – ♦ Live Music ♦ Raffle ♦ Silent Auction ♦ Great Food ♦ Kids’ Activities ♦ Family Fun AND More

Family-Oriented Event: 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Adult Event: 7:00 p.m. – Midnight

Gladys Porter Zoo is proud to present the 6th annual YappoPalooza in beautiful Brownsville, Texas. The day long festival on Saturday will feature arts and crafts vendors, live music, shrimp plates, silent auction, exhibits and demonstrations, children’s activities and more. Beer and wine sampling will be available Saturday night. The family-oriented festival raises awareness of sea turtle conservation efforts, encourages conservation volunteerism and raises critically needed funds for proven recovery projects. The goal is to raise $20,000 in unrestricted funds for the Bi-national Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle Project administered by the Gladys Porter Zoo.

Come kick-off the summer and help us honor the memory of Jeffery “Yappo” Boruff, one of the dedicated volunteers that made a real difference working side-by-side with the professionals at the epicenter of the Bi-national Kemp’s Ridley Sea Turtle Project in Rancho Nuevo, Mexico.

The bi-national project represents one of the most successful endangered species recovery efforts ever undertaken. This extraordinary four-decade effort has brought Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles back from the brink of extinction. Funding for sea turtle conservation is more limited than ever, all revenues derived from the festival will be used to fund the bi-national project. You can be part of the recovery team and help save Kemp’s Ridley sea turtles by supporting the 6th Annual YappoPalooza Sea Turtle Festival.
